Research
Completed

As part of the Phyllis-Lambert Grant in 2015, we visited a series of zoological and botanical gardens, aquariums, and natural history museums (among others) to understand the immersive nature of these institutions, the history of the ideas associated with them, and the architecture that embodies them. Our interest in the relationship between nature and architecture — from the reproduction of the sensorial qualitiesof distant habitats to the surreal juxtapositions between species and their spaces — was initially prompted by our work on the Insectarium and became further enriched through the opportunity to complete this research.
