The project aims to create a symbol for the local community of Losbates in Prague. Subverting the closed nature of the traditional cloister, a permeable multi-functional ring connects four separate programmatic clusters into one coherent form and frames an open courtyard planted with a fragment of a nearby forest. The architecture thus becomes a porous collection of pavilions rather than a centralized building surrounded by landscape, while still linking visitors in a continuous yet nonlinear spatial circuit. The clusters expand and contract to build subtle thresholds, with the feeling of connection grounded in visual connections through the inner courtyard. Pockets of gardens and playgrounds are distributed across the canopy of trees and serve as extensions of the school’s program. The project delivers a contrasting experience of a contained oasis relative to its vast open surroundings, functioning as a natural barrier to regulate the climate and protect interior areas from wind and sun.
