The Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal's café is located in the entrance hall of the Wilder building, a cultural location for four major Montreal dance companies. The cafe is in a recessed space, slightly set back from the high traffic flow of the lobby. It is semi-enclosed by a wooden screen, acting as a filter between the two spaces, giving intimacy to the cafe while still allowing light to pass. The cafe is divided into two zones: a transit zone for quick stops and a seating zone for extended rest. The atrium space directly above the cafe holds mobile storage blocks that can be reconfigured depending on the needs of an event, be it launches, cocktails, conferences, banquets, and so on. This design transcends beyond being a simple container for equipment. Instead, its modularity makes it possible to create temporary wall divisions, service counters, or coat rooms.
