All architecture interacts with the constant and fundamental notions of form, organization, and construction. We consider these notions to be the invariants of architecture as opposed to variants such as site, program, budget, standards, or client. The invariants are the essential material that pre-exists the specific elements of the project. The project researches architectural concepts through an exploration of simple spatial operations such as subtraction, stacking, inversion, shifting, and connection, among others. The proposed ideas are criticized, re-evaluated, and regenerated continuously in an iterative process until some kind of architectural “coherence” emerges: a spatial proposal where the invariants enter a close dialogue to generate a responsive structure of matter and space.
