The expansion to an existing triplex proposes an improved and more spacious living arrangement with close contact with vegetation at every level. The terraced morphology is a product of alignments required by the city as well as numerous impact studies on neighbours. The mezzanine setback from the false mansard dissociates the contemporary addition from the heritage façade. The succession of recesses, resembling a sloping topography, generates terraces on each floor and volumetrically considers optimal solar trajectories for both the residents and neighbors. The terrace planting, integrated into the architectural elements of the railing, acts as a filter modulating sound and views to preserve intimacy between the various outdoor spaces.
