The original building was erected around 1905, expanded in 1950, and now again in 2022. The extension, under a thick overhanging roof, frames views of the adjacent pond and farmland. The exterior walls are deep, evoking the stone walls of the existing house and accommodating the interior functionalities. The large chimney pierces through the new roof and anchors its horizontality in the landscape. To unify the three construction phases, the existing house is coated in a white cementitious layer to homogenize the different generations of masonry without masking the stone. The extension, more abstract in its materiality, is covered with white cement plaster. During the luminance of summer, the house contrasts against the surrounding lush vegetation. During the stillness of winter, the house blends against the snow, monochrome and calm.
