The architecture of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde is the result of a series of renovations and extensions carried out since the erection of the Gayety Theater in 1912. This assemblage defines the identity of TNM. The proposal is rooted in preserving the historical succession of transformations. The redesign of the lobby, café, and entrance, coupled with a new accessible and open square, decompartmentalize its activities and programming. The offices, foyers, rehearsal rooms, theater, and café now face the surrounding neighborhood, asserting prominence and effervescence in the Quartier des Spectacles. Through multiple relationships between interior and exterior, private and public, empty and full, open and closed, day and night, the theater takes on a new form.
